Filing Process FAQ
WHO FILES THEIR DOCUMENTS ON EDGAR?
All companies listed for trading on U.S. stock exchanges, foreign and domestic, are required to file registration statements, periodic reports, and other forms electronically through EDGAR.
WHAT DOCUMENTS ARE FILED ON EDGAR?
The SEC's Form Types Used for Electronic Filing on EDGARis an Appendix that provides tables listing and describing all submission types accepted by EDGAR. Examples include 10-K (extensive annual report), 10-Q (quarterly report), 8-K, proxy statements and other reports.
WHAT IS THE PROCESS FOR FIRST-TIME FILERS?
To register a new company to file with the SEC, an electronic Form ID must be completed. It is available along with all necessary instructions at the SEC's Filer Management web site: https://www.filermanagement.edgarfiling.sec.gov/
Before your company can electronically file with the SEC on EDGAR, you must become an EDGAR filer with authorized access codes*. The web site linked above allows companies to create a Form ID and submit it for authorization to the SEC. Upon acceptance, you will receive a unique CIK via e-mail. Upon return to this web site, your company will use this CIK and a passphrase to create your EDGAR access codes.
Once new issuers have these access codes, you may use EDGAR to begin electronically filing. (Note: This web site may also be used to regenerate your access codes.)
You may access the web site linked above (and other EDGAR web sites) from 6:00AM to 10:00PM Eastern Time Monday through Friday (except for federal holidays).
* CIK (Central Index Key) is a unique number assigned by the SEC that distinguishes the company or individual to which it is assigned. CCC (CIK Confirmation Code) is an eight-character code that EDGAR uses in conjunction with the CIK to authenticate a filer.
HOW DO CLIENTS UPDATE AN EDGAR PROFILE?
Clients must complete a new Form ID and submit it to the SEC with the revised information. A copy of the current Form ID can be found here.

FILING FORMATS & EDGARIZATION
EDGARization
EDGARization is the process of converting parent documents (i.e. Microsoft Word) into acceptable EDGAR HTML format. Once EDGARized,
the documents can be submitted to the SEC via the EDGAR system.
Only documents submitted to the EDGAR system in plain text (ASCII) or HTML are official filings. While CCNMatthews' filing experts can submit plain text documents on your behalf,
we prefer - and urge - our clients to adopt HTML.
Why HTML?
HTML allows for greater flexibility in the visual presentation of your documentation, including specially formatted text (bold, italic, underlined, etc.), a wider variety of fonts and it also allows tables, maps and other
graphic images to be inserted into the document.
HTML gives you the option to add hyperlinks, either within the same document or as a link to other filings in the EDGAR database.
Additionally, your HTML documents can be easily and automatically posted to your company's web site by CCNMatthews. For more details,
